32

I awoke this morning to Pete and the kids waking me with a sparkler, cards and gifts. The best birthday gift today, though, was the 2 1/2 hour nap I had in the afternoon. I don't think I have slept so deeply for years. Now I feel all refreshed and ready for dinner and drinks tonight. Let's see how long I last!

This framed fabric picture is actually puffy when you touch it. I can't wait to put it up in the playroom (if there is any wall left..) The kids have gone berserk over it - Leon keeps pointing at it. I think birdy will be his first word which will be weird as that was Mahlie's first word. I thought it was quite fitting with the weather being so rainy and all.

"the singing show"

Today I took Mahlie to what she calls "the singing show" which was actually Justine Clarke's "Songs To Make You Smile" concert. It was all a bit mad - the gazillions of toddlers being chased down dark isles by frantic mothers carrying newborns in pouches. A heavily pregnant Justine hippity-hopping on stage, still putting on a damn good show. And Mahlie - awake since 5:30am (show was at midday) who would not let me put her down, would not sit in her seat and was generally too tired to really appreciate what was going on - especially since she is so insanely Justine fanatical. Once we'd stocked up on merchandise and met the lady herself, all I heard the whole way home was whining about how we can't go home, we have to go back, we have to watch it again, I want Justiiiiiiinnnne! Over-tired 2 year-olds, what can you do? Luckily I had fun...

cold snap

Yesterday my sister and I took mum to Daylesford for her birthday. Despite the icy weather and muddy ground, we enjoyed pottering about the Sunday Market, The Mill Market and lunch at Cliffy's (and of course a break from the kids!). Mum is considering putting in an offer on an amazing house - and we are looking forward to spending more time up there when and if she does.

love letters and name badges

A massive desk clean-out this week uncovered some items I'd almost forgotten:

100_7055-1

these great wooden letters I got on my Sydney trip (August 08!) that were recovered from an old circus. I had to rummage through a massive basket of them at DavidMetNicole to find a word to spell out. I will put them up in here, where I originally intended them for..

also found were these ace name badges from this ace lady's ace wedding which we recently attended. I managed to get a few shots of the reception before it was flooded with hungry guests.

escape

Autumn @ Cliffeys, originally uploaded by petalpics.

3 days. Daylesford. No children.
Mill Market (shelter from pouring rain, dangerous for vintage lovers with small budget)
Castlemaine (half a day, op shopping galore)
Red Star (breakfast, Allison's recommendation)
Perfect Drop (amazing dinner - saganaki, pickled pork belly, good wine)
DVD's (Twilight, Australia)
Open Fire, Massage.
Clairvoyant (scarily accurate)
Home now.
Back to life, back to reality..
