The Etsy Twiglet Sale on hoodies and pants ends in 4 days! Aussie customers who mention this blogpost get free postage! OR come down to the Sisters Market this Saturday where there will be special market day discounts, new hoodie fabrics and colours and adorable vintage style pinafores - in size 2! Yay!
Cookin'... Pete has been going nutso on the Spanish dishes since we brought home the cookbook from Movida!
Bakin'... I even set foot in the kitchen and made this butter cake with raspberry and vanilla bean mascarpone filling. GOD it was good.
Decoratin'... found a space and a way to display my lovelies without them being broken by menaces beginning with M.
Adorin'... this little fairy. We took her to the show twice in a week. Once with one cousin, once with another. Watching your little girl spinning in a costume - it don't get much better! (even if the songs were a bit irritating!)
Workin'... on Twiglet. Got some new colours/fabrics coming and some designs in Size 2! Come and visit me here on 2/8 and 18/10. I will be peddling my wares and covered in Leon drool.
So I just turned 31... a strange age to be and I feel strange about it. 30 was crazy. It's exhausting just thinking about it! I think 31 will be just as big. An overseas holiday (and wedding/honeymoon) all in one. Another wedding party when we get back. Mahlie turns 2! Markets, makeups...
For my birthday I took 11 girlfriends for lunch on Sunday in the city and then we saw Sex & The City movie at the directors suite at Melbourne Central. So much fun. I won't bore you with a movie review - there's enough of those going around already. Just see it.
On my actual birthday evening(Tues), Pete took me to Movida for dinner. We stuffed ourselves so much we could hardly breathe. Such a treat to go there. If you're in Melbourne you MUST try it. Although we had to book 6 weeks in advance...
And I actually got more sewing done! This was made in 10 minute spats of free time. It's a custom playmat for a lucky little lady due to enter the world in August.
top: skirt for Ava's 2nd birthday (as if anyone would ever bin an Aunty Cookie scrap you crazy lady!)
middle: whipped up cushions for the non-princess nursey
bottom: extra-special
makes-me-gooey-inside
too-good-to-cut-might-frame-them
barkcloth curtains that I paid way too much for at the Alice Euphemia retro fabric sale.
Is the amount of pregnant that I am. I'm quite sure he is trying to push his way out through my belly button. Like in Alien. I'm finding myself having to stop what I'm doing to breathe through the wriggling. I'm so not ready to give birth again and even though it it was only 16 months ago that I had Mahlie, I had to look up what to pack in my hospital bag amongst other newbornish things I had forgotten about... Yikes - well I guess there's no getting out of it now!
The past month has been a bit of a rollercoaster. My dear old nan died on January 2nd. She was 89. Only a few months after my other nan! It was sad but I learnt so much about her at the funeral. I found out she loved shopping, especially for shoes and handbags. I also owe to her my gratitude for bringing me up crafty. She taught me to sew and be creative. Shae has done a little tributey/photoey thing on her blog.
Christmas was great! I didn't manage to hand make all the gifts, but here is one I made little Andrew. It's a plastic covered crayon and pencil craft roll with pocket for paper! I love this fabric:
Shots of our Christmas:
And the token pics of Mahlie. She got a keyboard for Christmas from Pete & I and we think she is a natural. She's pretty good at the eating, too!
Well, now that I have a month's worth of posting out of the way, I have decided to partake in the 30 days of the everyday photo posting thingy that others already began over a week ago. I will attempt to keep it up - it might help me to break the habit of abandoning my blog and will help me to count down the days until the inevitable horror and joy... see you tomorrow.
P.S - there is new stuff in the Twiglet store!
Cos that's all my life is right now. Sewing for shops, talking to shops, sending to shops, not doing any christmas shopping of my own... Just did a quick count of how many garments I have sewn in the last month and it's hundreds! This is the last week of work. Then I am gonna sew some stuff for myself and Mahlie. And fall in a heap. Perhaps the christmas presents will get wrapped. Maybe I will make an effort to make the christmas dining table look like I made an effort for the 10 people whom are coming for lunch on Christmas Day. I may even tidy the house. Then I will be on the home stretch of the pregnancy and will hibernate in my air conditioning for about 8 weeks! Well I have managed to put most things in the Etsy store, now. Hoodies and wraps will go in tomorrow night. Can't. List. One. More. Thing.... gotta go nigh nigh x
Well, I'm still here. I have been struggling through the ups and many downs of starting a clothing label and I think I may have prevailed. The Docklands Market that was on this Friday has been cancelled (they forgot to tell me - can you freakin believe it???) so I have been busting my arse to get stock made for it for nuthin! However, I now have more stock available for the retail stores and Etsy and 90% of the range went into Mikes today. Just in time for their Xmas Shopping Night tomorrow night (Thu) which I believe there are still some places left at if you're in Melbourne. I will also be slowly uploading Twiglet products to my new Etsy store over the next week and adding more stockists to the list on the webpage. There are some of these on Etsy right now:
Most of the range is on the flickr site for now and I am open to being contacted via e-mail for orders... Yay! Twiglet is here!!! Pretty please tell me what you guys think - I have been doing my own head in and doubting myself and almost giving up and very explicit lyrics have been sung this side of Yarraville recently. Feedback is very welcome here.
Other stuff:
Did Camberwell Market stall. Never again. People are stingy, rude, vultures and it's not worth the money. I got sunburnt, too. And Mahlie should'nt have come with. Thank god Pip and Cam showed up with jam donuts for me and whisked her away from us for half an hourish!
Hospital sent me a letter saying my iron levels are at 8 and they should be at 50. No wonder if feel so weak and tired. Otherwise feeling pregnantly good.
Went to zoo for Andrews 3rd birthday. Was fun!
Went to stitching night at Mikes again. Met Shannon, Lara and Natalie. Ate heaps of lollies. Did very little stitching.
We are thinking about going to Bali in August. Has anyone ever taken kids or babies there that can offer advice? Mahlie will be 2 and new baby will be 6 months.
Can you believe it's around the corner? I have done some gift buying/making but really, the list of stuff to do before then and before baby arrives is way longer than my arm. One thing I have managed to complete and send is my Christmas Compilation swap:
The background image is actually some fabric I bought for a huge project for Christmas (gifts and sales!) Here 'tis closer:
Things have actually taken a horribly big step backwards as far as the baby clothing label goes. It's a long story but put it this way - if you want something done properly and on time, you just gotta do it your darn self! I was warned about this from my fashion designery friends but of course I was certain it wouldn't happen to me... Ah well! There will be as much stock made as humanly possible and hopefully I can still have my pre-christmas market stalls. This fabric I bought from Leslie's Onegirl Gathers Etsy Store made me feel much better!
Hope everyone likes their C.D's! x
