Catching Up...

Hello!

I'm still alive!

It will be a jumbled catch up post and will last as long as the bubs are both asleep. (Can you believe I got them both to sleep at the same time? First time since Leon was born and he is nearly 8 weeks. Still hope for me!)

Well, it has been crazy. Fun, chaotic, stressful, emotional, frustrating, busy, amazing. At times I feel like all I do is clean-up after, run-after, feed, and do it all over again and that that is all my life has become. I keep telling myself that it will get easier. I keep telling myself it's not forever. Other times I wouldn't have it any other way and feel lucky to have a girl and a boy whom are beautiful and healthy and make my heart sing and I keep telling them not to grow too quick!

Amongst the chaos I have:

Seen The Black Crowes live. (Amazing band but didnt play any songs I knew and dragged out the songs they did play for 10 minutes...)

Saw Brick Lane. (Beautiful film, as is the novel.)

Did a few makeup jobs (some 4+ hours - boy did my breastmilk leak!)

Visited 3 new babies (Owen, Hardi and Gisele)

Spent half a day at Aurora Day Spa (thanks Pete!) twas lovely - although it's the kind of place where you feel like you need to have a pedicure before you go...

Tried to finish decorating Mahlie and Leon's bedroom but it's still a functional WIP

Got frustrated about having no time for Twiglet (or any craft/sewing at all) and have since found a way to keep it going. Mahlie is now in childcare once a week and also goes to Pete's parents house for the day every second Tuesday. Pete is also going to car pool to work once a week with another hairdresser so I get the car one extra day a week. Woohoo! So fingers crossed I might get out to the studio finally! To celebrate I am doing a giveaway and a May Sale. I will post again in a few days with giveaway details!

34 weeks +

Is the amount of pregnant that I am. I'm quite sure he is trying to push his way out through my belly button. Like in Alien. I'm finding myself having to stop what I'm doing to breathe through the wriggling. I'm so not ready to give birth again and even though it it was only 16 months ago that I had Mahlie, I had to look up what to pack in my hospital bag amongst other newbornish things I had forgotten about... Yikes - well I guess there's no getting out of it now!

The past month has been a bit of a rollercoaster. My dear old nan died on January 2nd. She was 89. Only a few months after my other nan! It was sad but I learnt so much about her at the funeral. I found out she loved shopping, especially for shoes and handbags. I also owe to her my gratitude for bringing me up crafty. She taught me to sew and be creative. Shae has done a little tributey/photoey thing on her blog.

Christmas was great! I didn't manage to hand make all the gifts, but here is one I made little Andrew. It's a plastic covered crayon and pencil craft roll with pocket for paper! I love this fabric: Shots of our Christmas: And the token pics of Mahlie. She got a keyboard for Christmas from Pete & I and we think she is a natural. She's pretty good at the eating, too! Well, now that I have a month's worth of posting out of the way, I have decided to partake in the 30 days of the everyday photo posting thingy that others already began over a week ago. I will attempt to keep it up - it might help me to break the habit of abandoning my blog and will help me to count down the days until the inevitable horror and joy... see you tomorrow.

2 weeks since my last post...

That would be because

(A) Mahlie has had gastro and had to be taken to the Royal Childrens Emergency twice this week. She was sick for two days and I got freaked out when her lips, hands and feet started turning purplish. Took her in and we spent the night there whilst she had a drip through her nose for 6 hours. HORRIBLE! Then we took her home and it just kept happening! She couldn't keep even a sip of water down. We got worried again and took her back on Thursday and had to do the whole dreaded thing over again. By Friday night she was OK and now she is absolutely fine. Eating, drinking, sleeping, clinging, whining, giggling. It really is so sad to be in that hospital with all those sick kiddies. Poor chickens. We still hadn't bought a birthday present for her and look what we found on ebay for $27!

(B) I have been working hard on the new baby clothing label and am hoping to have all stock ready for sale in 2-3 weeks. Besides the retail stores, I will be listing on Etsy and possibly having a stall at the Docklands Market on the 2nd of December. It's very exciting and I will share more very soon. Here is a sneek peek. That's all you get!

(C) Amongst A and B I have cleaned out alot of treasures from the corners of my home and put together a basket full of vintage goodies to sell on Etsy. This will happen as soon as I get a chance to photograph it all! There is some cool retro stuff - clothing and homewares etc. However, in typical Dana fashion I have managed to fit in a trip to Savers and bring into my spring cleaned home the following: Also bought some fabric from Pei Pei's Japan trip purchases: Made these for a 1st birthday present: Bought some new sounds: And last but not least, recieved my copy of Mixtape in the mail. Jhoanna also tagged me to do a "Why do you craft?" Q & A thing but not only am I going crossed-eyed and need to go to bed, but I think this post has to end here. P.S - Does anyone else have to ban themselves from Facebook so as not to get distracted from EVERYTHING?!

Magnificent Month of Mail

After a mix-up at the post office, I recieved a generous bundle of fabric from Nicole as she recently did a bit of a giveaway. Thankyou so much, Nicole - it will all be very useful! Also generous is Amitie - for sending this adorable piece of fabric with their newsletter. I LOVE it and am agonising over what to do with it and wondering how I will stop myself from going to the store to get me some more! It has been a great week besides this blasted cold I am currently dealing with and only got rid of two weeks ago. Your immune system sure goes down when you're pregnant! I havent felt physically fine for quite some time. Soldiered on into Mikes yesterday, anyway, where Mahlie and Ava had fun on the organ! It really was very funny... The two little chickens sitting there with their tiny legs dangling over the stool and looking at us and wondering what we were all laughing at! Pete is on a mission to find Mahlie a keyboard for home now...

head in a whirl

*BIG SIGH* I'm getting so much done in my head and nowhere else. It's doing my head in. My mind is constantly racing with moving the house around, preparing for baby #2, thinking of names, cleaning, creating new baby clothes for marketbaby, re-branding marketbaby and supplying more stores that are interested - the list is enormous!

However, my days go by in a flash and by the time I have had breakfast and lunch, fed Mahlie 3 meals, 2 snacks and 3 bottles, read her a book, gone for a walk, talked on the phone, checked my e-mails, given Mahlie a bath, put her to bed, eaten dinner - gone is the day! I know most people do their crafting etc. once bubs is in bed but by that time I am exhausted and just want to collapse! Like Nichola said, "where is the 2nd trimester energy??". (And what on earth happens when you have 2 babies under 2?!)

Don't get me wrong - I love looking after Mahlie everyday and being a mama it's just at the moment I get severe morning sickness every other day, still doing makeup work and for some reason can't sleep. (probably all the stuff whirring in my head!) So very frustrating to not be the all-doing, all-achieving, motivated individual that I usually am! Anyway! *SIGH AGAIN* Blah, blah, whinge, whinge - I will get there. Off I go to make a big list so it's all out of my head...

Fathers Day

Not so long ago my grandmother died. She was my father's mother and her name was Betty. I managed to drive to the country town where she lives to see her before she died but didn't make it to her funeral due to morning sickness. Dad came over on his way home from the funeral and gave me this suitcase of hers. Which was gift enough itself as it is very cool and I love the colour. Inside was all of her dresses. Dad thought I could use the fabrics for my crafting. Instead I made him this memory quilt for Fathers Day! I know it's a bit country floral to give to my Dad but, well, to be frank - my Dad is a bit girly (as some of you may have read before...) I made the back from larger squares and left the pockets and details of the dresses on... And found name labels sewn into some so thought they could be included, too. Dad absolutely loved it and is grateful to have it in our family. We are going to pass it around to all his siblings so everyone can "have a turn". It really is such a lovely way to remember your nan. It's kinda like the cushions my mum made me out of my grandpa's groovy '60s ties. Best present she ever gave me. This quilt has inspired me to make a few more for our home and beds. So nice to pass down...

I've also been busy making baby wraps for Mikes and baby shower gifts. Here's a couple for sale there at the moment. More over here... I think I may have confused a few people with my last post! That pic is me pregnant with Mahlie! I'm not having twins! Hee hee... My belly is definately getting there with this bub, though. I'm nearly 4 months but look 5 or 6. We have started to talk seriously about names now. There's a few I really love so much which I may as well share as Pete hates them and will not be swayed. Boy: Ike  Girl: Delilah. Cute, huh? Speaking of new babies - look at my adorable new nephew! Eden Winter Reid. Last but not least - some pics of Mahlie from the past week or so. Told you I needed my camera charger! Oh - and I finally set up my bloglines. How did i live without that? It's already won me a fabric goody parcel from Craftapalooza! Good Wuuuuuuun.
